I’m incredibly jealous of people with good GPAs. I don’t question how they do it; I know. People whose parents pay their way through college get good GPAs. I’m not talking tuition wise, I mean the rest of it, the every day bills. Since I started college I’ve worked one or two jobs at a time, except one semester. That one semester, I had my highest GPA ever.
When you can focus solely on school, of course you’re going to have a high GPA. And if you don’t, that’s all on you because you were given every opportunity to succeed. But I don’t have that luxury. Of course my parents help me out a little, but I still have to work a decent amount to do the things I want to do and pay my bills. That usually includes working late nights which doesn’t exactly support academic success.
If I could have one thing, it would be to not have to work and go to school at the same time. Being a full-time student is a full-time job. Which is not something my parents understand because neither of them went to college so they can only imagine.
I’m at a point now where I can either take a class for a grade replacement that will help my GPA a lot, or I can open those days up to be able to work, so I can pay my Kappa bill and have somewhere to live near campus, with a support group, which also will help my grades. /end run-on sentence
So I just don’t know. Maybe I’ll just quit college and go to beauty school.
